Fathers Day Rocket Card is designed for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners to show love to Dads while promoting fine motor control and creativity.
You know that your little ones love their dad to infinity and beyond! So, let’s show dads, grandpas, expecting dads, or wanna-be dads just how much we love them! Trust me; anyone will be touched seeing a little astronaut holding a spaceship thrusting toward the moon with a heartfelt message that says, “Daddy, I Love You To The Moon And Back!” So, let’s make a special Father’s Day Rocket Card because nothing says “I love you” like a gift that captures a child’s adoration. Besides, you can use many recycled items or scrap paper around the house, so the setup should be minimal. Most importantly, this craft becomes a cherished keepsake in Dad’s heart for years to come! So, let’s get crafty and show some intergalactic appreciation to a father figure!
Supplies
Below is the list of supplies you will need to make this Father’s Day Rocket Card:
1. a star paper -puncher
2. a glue-stick
3. a large black piece of cardstock (we are using this paper)
4. leftover colorful cardstock for stars
5. scissors
6. a shiny red foil to resemble the flame
This Father’s Day Rocket Card craft idea was inspired by Guess How Much I Love You book, which is a perfect read for Father’s Day! In fact, with a simple yet poignant message about the unconditional love of a Father Rabbit, the book reminds children about love that knows no boundaries, love that keeps on going, is ever-expanding, and is never-ending!
Unfortunately, parenting doesn’t come with an instruction manual. But I am here to help take the guesswork and frustration out of your homeschooling journey, bring structure, hands-on learning prompts, and inspire the love of learning!
Instructions
Below are the steps on how to make this Father’s Day Card:
First, cut out a rocket from a contrasting color paper and glue it to your black cardstock. Julia then carefully drew a moon while referencing Little Kids First Big Book of Space, our absolute favorite cosmos exploration reference.
Next, to exercise gross motor skills and strengthen those little hands, offer your child to punch out stars from different color cardstock. (We are using leftovers from other crafts.) We also cut thin strips of red leftover Christmas wrapping paper and glued them to resemble the flame coming from the rocket.
Thereafter, invite your child to glue the punched-out stars to your back cardstock – aka space.
Interestingly, while reading National Geographic Kids First Big Book of Space, we learned that, although to us, stars look like shiny, sparkling white diamonds, stars come in different colors. As such, star colors can vary from the hottest blue to the coolest red. Our sun is a yellow star in the middle.
Lastly, glue a picture of your children to the rocket, and the rocket is ready for launch! Five, four, three, two, one! Blast off!
