Twisted Autumn Tree Craft

Process Art is a very exciting modern form of art that works great with children since it is all about the process rather than a result.ย The Guggenheim states โ€œprocess artย emphasizes the ‘process‘ of makingย artโ€. As such, process art is all about the experience children are having while they are expressing their creativity!ย ย The MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art)ย explains thatย โ€œin process art, the means count for more than the ends.โ€ So, let your child’s imagination, ingenuity,ย and creativity go wild while they are happily engaged in the PROCESS of ART.

Today, we are creating an Autumn tree from recycled and nature materials. You would need: a recycled brown bag, dried pressed leaves and little hands (or herb crusher).

Rip the brown bag in strips and twist it making a cord. Then glue it to the white cardstock. (I used a hot glue gun to glue it). Offer your child to crush the dried leaves (remove the stem and rip the leaves into little pieces).

DSC_0133ย  We also used a maple leaf puncher to punch out some leaves to add a realistic feel to our process art.

DSC_0133Make sure to remove the bottom plastic part of theย maple leaf puncher.

DSC_0078Apply glue and sprinkle crumbled leaves over the glue and let dry.

DSC_0133ย ย We arranged and glued individual punched out leaves as well.
DSC_0078Give your art a shake and it will be ready to decorate a wall or your nature corner.
