Materials & Supplies
Below is the list of materials you will need for this Easter Eggs STEM Activity.

- Free Eggs Printable (download below)
- a sheet protector
- small glasses or jars
- food coloring to make colored water
- droppers
- oil (vegetable or baby oil works well)
- a wooden toothpick
Instructions:

- Prepare Your Workspace: Set up a clean and flat surface for the activity. Place the free PDF template inside the sheet protector, ensuring it’s positioned flat and centered.
- Apply Oil: Pour a small amount of oil (I am using olive oil) onto a cotton pad and apply over the surface of the sheet protector, spreading it evenly. The oil will create a slick surface for the colored water to move on.
- Create Colored Water: In separate containers, prepare colored water using food coloring or watercolor paints. Mix until you achieve vibrant hues.

Observe and Experiment: Watch as the colored water forms droplets on the surface. Notice how they bead up due to cohesion (water molecules sticking together) and adhere to the oil-coated surface due to adhesion (water molecules sticking to the oil). Experiment with different colors and patterns!

Color Matching Fun: Now comes the exciting part! Use a toothpick to gently drag the colored water droplets across the surface, matching them with the corresponding Easter egg shapes on the printable. Encourage your child to be precise and creative in their color matching.
Mixing Primary Colors to make Secondary Colors

Color Mixing Fun: Encourage your child to have fun with color mixing by combining primary colors to create secondary colors. For example, mixing droplets of blue and yellow will result in green, while mixing blue and red will create purple. Let them explore the magic of color transformation as they mix and match hues on the surface.
