Discover Wednesday’s Midweek Mood Boost: Celebrating the Little Wins that Keep Us Going Through Life’s Beautiful Messes.
Welcome to your Pick-Me-Up! A Wednesday’s Midweek Mood Boost: Celebrating the Little Wins. A little midweek pause to breathe, laugh, and remind ourselves that we’re all doing okay… even on the days that feel beautifully, messily imperfect.
This morning, I was trying to get just a minute to gather my thoughts before starting the day. So, while I checked in with my social media manager, I clicked over to my Instagram home feed… and wouldn’t you know it, the first thing that popped up
. . .was her.
You know who I’m talking about. Impeccably styled mom-of-five with a snowy white bedroom. Not a wrinkle on her crisp linen duvet or her glowing forehead. There she was, smiling with her immaculate kids, all perfectly dressed, lounging on their plush (and spotless) white couch, all ready to learn and create together in a house that looked like a page from an interior design magazine.
I mean, come on!
Then, I looked around my own living room: a mountain of laundry waiting to be folded, my grey-ish couch that’s seen a lot of family life, and … well, let’s not get in any further, shall we?
I felt that pang, that sneaky little voice saying, “Why can’t you get it together like her?”
But then, just as I caught myself scrolling into comparison-spiral territory, I thought back to a recent conversation with some of the moms in our MKAP group. We were messaging back and forth, sharing all the “behind-the-scenes” of our days—you know, the spilled cereal, the crayon murals, and the endless games of hide-and-seek that somehow always end in giggles and someone needing a band-aid.
Then one mom said, “I feel like I’m failing at all of it this week.” And that was it. Immediately, the whole chat lit up with confessions. “Same here!” “I thought it was just me!” “My kids literally had popcorn for dinner last night.”
Suddenly, we were all laughing and swapping stories about our beautifully imperfect lives. It hit me how much we need these reminders: None of us have it all together.
Behind every shiny photo is a messy scene. Behind every smile, there’s a story. And those little wins we pull off each day? They matter so much more than we realize.
So, here’s my challenge for us this week:
Let’s pause for a second and give ourselves a little credit! Grab a sticky note or your phone and jot down three things you’ve done well this week.
They don’t have to be huge. Just the little things that made a difference, even if they felt small at the time.
I’ll go first:
- I got up before 6 a.m.—thank you, Daylight Savings! My body clock is finally in sync with Mother Nature (and yes, I’m absolutely calling that a win!).
- I called my dad after his surgery (everything went well, thank goodness!). Note to self: Why does it seem that we only seem to have “family group calls” when there’s a big event?
- Finally, I reminded myself that the goal isn’t getting everything done—the goal is enjoying the journey.
Now it’s your turn. If you’re like me and love a little accountability, hit reply and share your three wins.
I’d love to cheer you on, and I promise I’m rooting for you with every ounce of support I have.
