So, join me as together we reflect on the past and prepare for the future in my “Memorial Day | May Newsletter Reflecting and Planning for the Month Ahead.”

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you had time to relax, enjoy the long weekend, and soak up some sunshine (or enjoy the rain). But amidst all the barbecues and beach trips, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on the real reason behind this holiday.

Memorial Day isn’t just about scoring deals or getting an extra day off work. It’s about honoring the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. So, let’s pause for a second and pay our respects to those who gave everything for our freedom. They deserve our gratitude, now and always.

My Grandfather’s Story

This Memorial Day holds a special place in my heart because of my Grandfather’s story. At the age of 16, he courageously fought in WWII, where he faced the horrors of battle head-on. Tragically, he was wounded by a grenade, which left him paralyzed for three agonizing years.

Doctors once told him he’d never walk again!

But my Grandfather refused to accept defeat. Using his willpower and determination to walk again, he would envision the subtle movement of his toes. The mental struggle was excruciating, leaving him soaked in sweat, yet yielding no movement in his limbs.

Glimmer of Hope

Yet, he kept pushing through the mental agony despite the absence of any physical progress. Then, a breakthrough – a flicker of movement, a glimmer of hope. Then, through grueling months of relentless mental effort, audacious goals, and unwavering determination, he defied the odds!

While doctors called it a ‘miracle,’ my Grandfather called it willpower.

He gradually regaining mobility in both legs. While doctors marveled at what they called a ‘miracle,’ my Grandfather called it: willpower. He not only recovered fully but also became a remarkable athlete, maintaining his fitness well into his 80s with runs.

A Tribute to Resilience and Dedication

Rising at dawn to embrace the gift of life and mobility, he embarked on his daily ritual, running with unwavering determination. He fearlessly plunged into the frigid waters of frozen lakes, completed rigorous sets of push-ups and pull-ups, and even mastered the art of headstands. His remarkable strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment have remained a steadfast source of inspiration for me. From him, I learned the invaluable lesson of never forgoing a workout, no matter the conditions or challenges that lie ahead.

He was a true role model – a war hero, a published writer, a TV producer, a film director, a loving husband, and the best grandfather anyone could ask for.

Honoring the memory of our Heroes

My grandfather’s story is a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals who fought for our freedom. As we honor the memory of those who served this Memorial Day, I carry his legacy with gratitude and pride, knowing that thier bravery will always be a guiding light!

Four Steps to Transform Your To-Dos into Achievements This June

(1) Reflect on May: Spend a few moments considering what went well and what didn’t.

(2) Reconnect with your big-picture goals: Identify the next steps and journal them. (Writing something down on paper helps you retain the information better because it boosts connectivity between different areas of the brain.)

(3) Assess your schedule: Look at how busy June will be and determine how much time you can dedicate to your goals.

(4) Select a few key objectives for June: Remember, less is more, and small, consistent efforts lead to big changes. Tiny changes make a big difference!
