Blossoms Popcorn Kids Craft 3D Textured Process Art encourages creativity in preschoolers and kindergartners and promotes fine motor control.

What is a better way to celebrate the awakening of mother nature from its long winter respite than with this spring-inspired Blossoms Popcorn Kids Craft? Besides, this 3D Textured Process Art is super easy to make using stale or expired popcorn from your cupboard. Most importantly, this Cherry Blossoms Popcorn craft will spark creativity in preschoolers and kindergartners and strengthen the small muscles of the hands.

What is process art? It is a child-directed, choice-driven process that celebrates the experience of discovery! And although the final product is always unique, the focus lies in the PIRCESS ad NOT the end result. As such, children can express freely own creativity and not worry about the final art. Also, if you add texture to the painting, it adds a nice tactile element, creating a stunning 3 D effect!

YOU’ll NEED for this Blossoms Popcorn Kids Craft

• a tree printable (download for your personal use here)
• popped popcorn (we had a lot of half-used bags that went stale)
• glue or a hot glue gun
• water-soluble watercolor cakes
• watercolors paints (for blossoms)
• paintbrushes
• salt (optional)
• glitter (optional)

HOW TO MAKE YOUR 3D Textured Process Art

First, print your Tree printable PDF and color the background and the tree trunk with watercolors.

DOWNLOAD the TREE PRINTABLE HERE

Then, either using regular glue or a hot glue gun glue popcorn to the branches. Next, paint “blossoms” popcorn with watercolors paints (we mixed Fuschia pink and light pink color). Finally, sprinkle some pink glitter on the painted blossoms while the paint is still wet.

Optional: we also made 3D clouds by “drawing” with a hot glue gun two cloud-shapes and then sprinkling salt on the glue while it is still wet. We did a similar craft here  3D Jellyfish Watercolor Hot Glue Texture Raised Salt Painting Process Art.
