DAISY-SEEDs-COUNT-Recycled-Play-Dough-DIY

COUNT SEEDS FLOWER DIY is a hands-on Montessori preschool math activity to advance 1:1 correspondence math skill, strengthen memory and promote fine-motor control through a sensory play-dough invitation to learn.

Montessori inspired FLOWER Botany study introduces preschoolers and kindergartners through engaging hands-on sensory invitations to learn and play to a beautiful world of flowers. In fact, learning numeracy can be abstract to little brains, not to mention mundane. So, setting up exciting project-driven tactile invitations to explore numeral to quantity association is a fun way to advance numeracy and memory skills through play. This flower-inspired Montessori preschool math activity will reinforce 1:1 correspondence while promoting spatial awareness, fine motor control, and hand-eye coordination. Besides, the set up should be minimal since you will be using recycled materials and items from your pantry. Most importantly, seed counting play-dough invitation to make flowers is a super fun hands-on DIY with a memory twist!!

First, apply tape to your entire cardboard. Next, with a dry erase marker draw flowers and inside each flower write numbers 1-5 (you can modify this to write teen numbers instead). Thereafter, invite your child to decorate flower petals with loose items and play dough. Lastly, have a child erase a number from the center of the flower and place a yellow play-dough disk in the middle and poke the exact quantity of black beans as the number the child erased.

This Montessori preschool math activity has a MEMORY TRICK. For example, a child has to REMEMBER what number s/he erased and place the exact quantity of beans. (AGE 2.5 yr +.) You can see this DAISY SEEDs COUNT Recycled Play-Dough DIY on IG HERE.

ANATOMY OF THE FLOWER

Although the center of the flower is called a pistil, the FLAT CENTER of daisy head is made up of many tiny flowers known as disc flowers or florets. In fact, these disc flowers radiate symmetrically from the center of the disc. Within each disc, the flower is a central pistil topped by a stigma, which is a female reproductive organ that receives the male pollen.
