RAINBOW Q-TIP ART sensorial kids craft is a fun color recognition activity for preschoolers and kindergartners to promote dexterity and fine motor skills.
Q-TIP RAINBOW CRAFT is an amazing ART PAINTING sensorial kids activity to strengthen small muscles of the hands, develop patience and foster color recognition! And if you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with leprechaun crafts and rainbows, this colorful craft is perfect for you!
YOU’ll NEED for Q-TIP RAINBOW PAINTING CRAFT
- 7 Q-TIPs (use CHEEP one as expensive fluffy ones will make a blob instead of a flower)
- small rubber bands
- markers/tempera sticks to draw a rainbow
- paints (we are using poster paints)
-hand- eye coordination
-fine motor control
Q-TIP RAINBOW PAINTING CRAFT INSTRUCTION
First, draw a rainbow. Then make a flower from seven Q-TIPS by placing one in the middle and arranging the six around it. Secure Q-TIPS tightly with a rubber-band. You can create a similar “flower” on the other end as well. Pour rainbow color paints into an egg carton and offer a child to follow RAINBOW RAYS by dipping a Q-TIP in a color matching paint and following the ray.
AGE 3Y +. Always supervise your child! For smaller children offer to finger paint and SKIP the Q-TIP!
Q-TIP RAINBOW PAINTING CRAFT REEL
Below see a shorter REEL version I posted to Instagram.
BEFORE you put a pencil in your child’s hand, let them explore the world through SENSES. Before your little one can write, s/he must have enough fine motor control and hand strength. And the best way to develop it, is by offering little hands to dot and paint, poke and pull, cut and manipulate, pinch and transfer!
What the hand does, the mind remembers.
Moreover, the added sensory input of Q-TIP painting helps the brain to encode (put to memory) the way in which to draw shapes. (If you think of it, numbers and letters are all made out or curves and lines!) So exposing little people EARLY to hands-on tracing, painting, dotting, etc, helps them embark on an academic journey with well developed motor control!

“Our work is not to teach, but to HELP the absorbent mind in its work of development. How marvelous it would be if by our help, if by an intelligent treatment of the child, if by understanding the needs of his physical life and by feeding his intellect, we could prolong the period of functioning of the absorbent mind!”
